Editorial Review:
When the home of Alex Cross's oldest friend, Ellie Cox, is turned into the worst murder scene Alex has ever seen, the destruction leads him to believe that he's chasing a horrible new breed of killer. As Alex and his girlfriend, Brianna Stone, become entangled in the deadly Nigerian underworld of Washington D.C., what they discover is shocking: a stunningly organized gang of lethal teenagers headed by a powerful, diabolical man--the African warlord known as the Tiger. Just when the detectives think they're closing in on the elusive murderer, the Tiger disappears into thin air. Tracking him to Africa, Alex knows that he must follow. Alone. From the author Time magazine has called "the man who can't miss," CROSS COUNTRY is the most heart-stopping, speed-charged, electrifying Alex Cross thriller yet.

Worst Patterson Book to Date
I was really looking forward to the next installment in the Cross series. His last book left me eagerly awaiting the new book. Had a good cliffhanger, that unfortunately was never even brought up in a coherent way in the new book. I agree with the others that Alex seems to have completely lost common sense in this book. Really putting himself in absurdly dangerous situations with a devil may care attitude. I never fully understood what was driving him in this book. In the last book I understood his passion... more info

I want my money back
Cross country.....bad bad bad. How can I get my money back?
I also notice that the only positive reviews here are from people not prepared to use their real name. Must be a lot of vested interests trying to keep James Patterson on the book shelves.
I wish I had read the reviews before wasting my money.

Not the typical Alex Cross but worth the read
This is not your typical Alex Cross but I thought it was a great book just the same. I think that James Patterson wanted to take this opportunity to bring a little attention to the horrific goings on in Darfur and Sudan and was able to do so by bringing one of his most beloved characters to the scene of the atrocities. Cross is definitely out of his element here and deeply moved by what he sees. As he keeps saying "people have to know what is going on" .. and that is true. People do have to know. If you can... more info

Difficult Read
This was a quick read but a difficult one. The book is dark and ugly and proves there is no cure for stupid from the protagonist perspective. Also, as a fan of Vince Flyn, Ted Bell, and WEB Griffin (Costillo) the Cross character in this book is a far cry from an action hero. I will not be reading a Patterson novel in the near future.
